During our recent anniversary trip to Tennessee, Adam and I were able to try out some new local cuisine including a lovely lunch at Easy Seafood Company Bistro & Bar in the heart of Chattanooga’s downtown area. This casual dining venue offered daily changing lunch & dinner menus with an assortment of creative seafood dishes in the style of creole cooking with a Tennessee twist. We stopped by to try out the lunch specials after visiting the wonderful Tennessee Aquarium and were very pleased with our visit, especially after reading that Easy Seafood Company is set in the world’s first Coca-Cola bottling plant. The worn floors, unique lighting and beautiful molding work on the ceiling added to the old school atmosphere.
We began our meal with the Seasoned French Load with Creole Garlic Butter Spread. I was pleasantly surprised to see an entire loaf of vibrant creole colored bread delivered to our table moments later. The bread was heavily seasoned with spices and herbs. With each bite, you could feel the tingle of heat on your tongue grow. Our lunch course was a difficult decision, but I chose the Blue Crab Cake Salad and Adam followed my lead with the Blue Crab Cake Sandwich. The salad was a refreshing lunch after all the walking in the aquarium. It was served with mixed lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers, two large crab cakes and champagne vinaigrette. I have to say that the vinaigrette was my favorite portion of the dish with its fresh shallots and slight bitterness which helped meld the sweet crab with the fresh vegetables. Adam’s Blue Crab Cake Sandwich was a large crab cake served on a bun with romoulade sauce, seasoned fries and a pickle.
With good portion sizes and excellent service, it was a delightful meal. I would be interested to try some of their daily specials such as the Grilled Mahi-Mahi Sandwich, Crispy Fish Tacos or Chicken & Andouille Sausage Jambalaya, but obviously both of us had a craving for crab. I would definitely return to this establishment on our next visit to Chattanooga.
Cheers!
